Project Life Week 3

We had a fantastic week 3.  No school all week for snow, snow, snow! I loved having the girls home to play with and they were so good all week.  Eric worked from home the last three days of the week, not wanting to deal with the commute. On friday, we flew to spokane for Sausage Fest.  Eric had a great time making sausage and the girls and I had a wonderful time with Kay C and her girls.  LOVE them!  Our girls played so great together.  Barbies, crafting cards, in the snow and a fun, made up dress up game!

Now we're just trying to get back into the routine!

PL: Week One

done!  I can't say I'll always be this on top of it.  But, I get A LOT done when Eric works really late or is out of town.  Yes, he's working really late tonight.  

When I sat down to put it together, I was stumped as to how I wanted to go about it. Sooooo, I will try to find way.  While I am trying to be kind of random, I still want to follow a few rules:

1. Always back my instax with a journaling card.

2. Round all corners on journaling cards ( I noticed I already broke my rule on the card with the picture of the old fashion camera.  Looks like I need to fix that).

3. Use sewing, bits of decorative tape and strips of random paper so it isn't so matchy matchy.

4. Use up a ton of the embellishments I've hoarded for so many years!

5. Make sure I use some 4 by 6 photos from my big camera...and round the corners.

6. Stretch my creativity by thinking out of the box for things to include...IE a copy of a funny text, a screen shot of a facebook post, a screen shot of the weather from my phone. I get these ideas from gals who are project life design team members...I've bookmarked all their blogs!

In order to make the process a bit easier, I pulled out most of the embellishments that I thought would work with the project and put them in a big flat longaberger...yes those things are still coming in handy...and set it on the bookshelves behind the couch. As long as I keep it fairly organized, I don't think it will look too out of place.  Next to it, I placed a little square longaberger where I will throw ephemera and instax pics in to collect until the end of each week.

Ooooh, Look at that messy out of place game.  Annie put that away yesterday. At least we played a game together.

December Daily Day 2: Annie's Birthday

done.  see previous post for a run down of the day.  it was a fabulous.  

sparky is currently putting up the exterior illumination. the roof is slick. i just called to make sure the life insurance policy was updated.

a quick post

to say what a perfectly lovely time i had on my scrap booking weekend.  3 nights away with some bff's recharged my batteries.  i have just enough to last until summer vacation now.  

highlights of the weekend included

-being with my girl friends, of course

-not feeling pressured to get anything accomplished, even though we all did!

-watching the first 8 episodes of GLEE almost back to back.  BEST IDEA EVER, JEN!!! 

-driving to camano island with jen. even though we live three houses, away our schedules are so off we NEVER get to chat.

-being cooked amazing comfort-y meals, that none of us had to clean up.  we get in trouble if we try to clear our dishes from the table

-coming home to a picked up house

-wine

indulging in three glasses of wine saturday night which led to the need to crawl into be at 11 (lame). taking contacts out but running out of solution, stealing some from my friend and then burning my left cornea upon putting contact back into eye the next morning.  (it hadn't neutralized)  i guess that's my penance for drinking and stealing.

this next one makes me laugh.  gracie really liked it, but asked why i put a two. it was her last day of school, of course i'd put a two...if it was the last day of second grade. sigh.  this was last year.  last day of first grade.  and i probably won't change it because it's just classic heather.

oh yes, i did.  i am sure eric will never talk to me again.  we laugh about this photo often...like i don't have 5 MILLION photos from my youth to throw darts at.  i think it's proof he was the one for me even back in the 8th grade or 9th grade. whatever.  i was in love with don johnson AND bruce willis when he was in moonlighting (he loves bruce willis). our love was meant to be. insert sarcastic voice here.

december daily: day 5

eric got up bright and EARLY and headed to the husky tailgate.  

the girls and i lounged in our pj's for a long time and then i threatened them that i'd take them to the gym in their pj's if they didn't put their clothes on.

another lovely piece of decor came for our christmas vacation party. 

the rest of the afternoon the girls played outside and at ellie's. i did laundry and got a little bit of craft on.

i made 4 of these for annie's preschool teachers

and packaged them in these bags that i made

i used all the bags i made. i think i need to bust out some more. 

putting the girls to bed soon so i can do some wrapping. pulled out my gift wrap from last year and almost wanted to dive into it.  i *heart* coordinating wrapping paper.  sorry environment. 

eric's home safe and sound. he made nice from being gone all day by bringing me an extra large diet pepsi.  

and now it's snowing. crazy!

feeling crafty

finished these little mini albums this evening.  think of them as abridged versions of the december daily. there's one page for a 4 by 6 photo and a page to journal about the day/christmas tradition. will hand deliver or place them in the mail tomorrow.

 

 
 i met my mom at the fabric store today.  had to get a little somethin' somethin' for this holiday party coming up.  my mom is kind enough to sew it up for me.  being in a fabric store makes me realize how much i miss fabric and sewing.  although not enough to finish the quilt i started last spring...sigh...

anyway  i walked out with two patterns...one for kid aprons and the other for these cute kid purses. i also walked out with this

 

mmm..i want to eat it.  i did all my chores today so i might treat myself to a little crating tomorrow!

december daily part two

thank you veterans for your service to our country...and for having a day in your honor... where kids get the day off from school.  gracie and annie have entertained themselves ALL morning while i cleaned out the closet in my scrapbook room as well as dusted the furniture and tidied up a bit. it's a nice clean space that feels uncluttered again.  while cleaning up i realized that i have a ton of scrap crap that i never use and i must find a way to get rid of it!  additionally, we had all of our duct work cleaned this morning.  i could make some crude comments about that, but i won't.  i'll just say that it makes me extremely happy and i hope it cuts down on the dust!

my december daily is pretty much finished with the exception of a few journaling spots here and there. some pages are missing the date  and i'll figure that out once i know what's going on the page.

3 for 4 and december daily

you won't believe this but my smarty-smart, but not so handy-handy husband woke up sunday morning and said "i feel like being handy today." yes those were literally the first words that came out of his mouth. 

who am i to argue.  i knew what needed to be done and i figured what is there to lose? worst case scenario...we call a plumber and a locksmith.

eric successfully fixed gracie's door handle, put a new handle on the door to the garage...one that locks even, AND REPLACED THE KITCHEN FAUCET with a new one!!! the only thing that didn't turn out so well was the constantly running toilet.  

i finally took some pictures of my december daily.  i am almost done.  had to interrupt the creativity for a busy weekend and house cleaning.  not all the pages have journaling spots on there.  will work that into the page as i figure out what picture/ephemera to incorporate for each day.

annie was my helper.  she doesn't ever sit still. hence the blur.  i think this is my favorite page.  i stitched across a n 8 by 8 page protector to keep the 1 in place.  i am thinking a photo on the top and a journaling card stapled on the outside but next to the 1.

day two

day two is annie's birthday so i cut up a baseball card like protector that has four slots on each side for some wallet sized photos.  a little journaling card and an acrylic "2" playing card that i had in my stash from some kit club.

super proud of this one. i figure out how to use this png file in pse 6.  i am so stupid when it comes to pse.  so happy i figured it out! i used a template and cut the scallop.

this and that

**gracie pooped again at school yesterday.  still leaking, but i have to celebrate. that is HUGE. one time good, two times now, GREAT!

**annie's new word is poop. No, not as a verb, but an adjective.  yesterday i put her in this super cute cheapo carter's dress--the preschool teacher even thought it might be hanna anderson--annie finally notices the print about 15 minutes before we need to be at the bus stop.  she proceeds to have a complete fit about the dress.  "IT'S GREY. IT'S UGLY. PEOPLE WILL LAUGH AT ME!" (it's not grey btw, it's tan with colorful flowers...PINK flowers which i thought she'd love).  she shuts herself in the den and cries, blows raspberries and calls her dress "POOPY...POOPY,POOPY, POOPY.  

I just heard her getting frustrated with her toys and she was calling them poopy. great.

trying to see the positive side of the dress situation, she is taking a little more initiative in trying to get herself dressed. i think she needs an occupational therapist to teach her how to pull a shirt over her head. 

**eric is in tex-ass for austin city limits.  good for him. i wasn't really thinking that this morning when he woke me up like 15 times getting ready to catch his flight.

**i am getting excited to do this. i've been wanting to do it the past two years but haven't gotten it together. i've been going through my stash to find supplies.  just waiting to hear what kind of album she is using so i can be just like her.

a little layout

ive been working on an 8.5 by 11 album of our trip to disneyland. im only on day two but im wading through the pics to find the most memorable ones. they may not be the best photos but it doesnt matter to me! im having fun using some of the stuff from the kits ive bought over the past few months. this one didnt scan that great. its more colorful irl and the big flower made it blurry. oh well!
